Having started in 2007, with more than 10 seasons in the cue, Adventure Time takes us on the adventures of 12-year-old “Finn the Human” and he’s talking, “wiggly” companion, “Jake the Dog”, as they travel across the land of Ooo, fighting evil and doing good.
With this endearing duo, the show gives us bright (even psychedelic) colors, strange landscapes, niche humor, and a very amusing cast of oddball characters!
A surreal show that is interesting and entertaining to both, kids and adults alike, Adventure Time has really become a favorite cartoon for many, and since you’re here, we’re guessing you love it too!
List Of Shows You Can Watch That Is Similar To Adventure Time:
The Amazing World Of Gumball
A show that first aired on Cartoon Network seems like it’s definitely for kids, but that being said, the plain weird content in the show will make it amusing even for adults! Consisting of several art-styles and animations,
The Amazing World of Gumball is a surreal, chaotic mess that surprisingly comes together very well, and makes you laugh as well as raise your eyebrows in amusement!
The show follows the story of a blue cat named Gumball and his family of odd characters; from his walking pet goldfish who goes to the same school as him and is also his best friend, to the over-achieving, terrifying younger
sister who’s a bunny, the normal (but also terrifying) mum, and the mind-numbingly stupid dad. There’s also a Mr. Butt, which just goes to show the extent of oddball characters. This show is definitely worth a watch!
Steven Universe
With this next show on our list, we introduce to you, Steven Universe! It follows the story of four crystal-gems, who consider themselves the self-appointed guardians of the universe, out of which Steven is the half-human-half-gem younger sibling of the other three.
The show takes us on adventures as Steven grows and comes into his own powers (which, we have to mention, come from his bellybutton) while they try to protect the universe! Steven is a super endearing goofball, and with all the learning and growth in the show, it makes a really lovely watch!
Steven Universe is definitely a really wholesome show, and watching their adventures is very reminiscent of the adventures in Adventure Time, so we’re sure you’ll like this show!

Over The Garden Wall
Next on our list is a beautiful little show that was first aired in 2014, and has only 1 season: Over the Garden Wall. This lovely show features two half-brothers, Wirt, and Greg, who get lost in a strange forest that seems to be suspended in time.
After being helped by a wise old woodsman and a bluebird, they go on their way, with Wirt being enveloped in his thoughts, and Greg, in contrast, being fascinated by the forest around them.
An endearing show, Over the Garden Wall, takes on a very nostalgic, fairytale-like quality which will be a wonderful watch for both adults and children alike. Children, because it’s a cute story that will garner their attention with all those magical characters and scenery, and adults because the show will really take them back to the stories of their own childhood!
Gravity Falls
Next on our list is Gravity Falls that aired first in 2012 was a really popular and fun show that followed the story of two siblings, Mabel and Dipper who travel to a little town named Gravity Falls, Oregon in the summer and but get confronted by a whole lot of strange happenings.
The show was really funny and endearing to kids and adults alike and so when the creator decided to cancel it out of the blue, the news came as a shock and a blow to many people, considering that the show was still doing really well.
The interesting list of obstacles the endearing characters come across will entertain you just as Adventure Time did, and if you haven’t watched this show yet, we recommend you watch it soon because you’re going to love it!

Bravest Warriors
Halfway through our list, we have Bravest Warriors. This next show will remind you of Adventure Time in more ways than one! Number one is the art style. Bravest Warriors and Adventure Time have very similar looking characters and they honestly look like they could be part of the same show!
Number two is the story-line, which, set in the year 3085, follows 4 teenaged heroes-for-hire who warp around the universe to save really adorable aliens from harm by using the power of their emotions. Number three is the odd yet amusing list of characters that keep popping up throughout the show, just like in Adventure Time!
Bravest Warriors kind of feels like a cross between Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and other shows that you’ll find equally endearing, so we definitely recommend you give this one a watch!
Disney’s Star Vs The Forces Of Evil
Next up we have a show which has an art style that will kind of remind you of Gravity Falls. A very colourful show-in all senses of the word-it is also very reminiscent of the bright landscape we find in Adventure Time, and tells us the story of a magical princess named Star who gets gifted a magic wand,
but then promptly shows that she’s not ready to wield such power. In an effort to make her grow up, she’s sent to Earth, where she gets into a whole lot of trouble and goes on a lot of adventures with a human boy, Marco Diaz, in order to stop the forces of evil taking over the universe!
With four seasons, this show is certainly geared towards children, but if you liked Adventure Time, you can be sure that you’ll enjoy the series too!
Rick And Morty
Started in 2013, Rick and Morty really gained momentum in the past couple of years and became one of the most popular animated shows on Netflix. Following the story of Rick, an old man (who is also a scientist and an alcoholic with absurd opinions on pretty much everything under the sun) who winds up on his daughter’s doorstep,
looking for a place to stay. After that, it’s all chaos as he takes his grandson Morty (who is portrayed as a little slow, but validly worried boy in his early teens) under his wing, traveling all over the universe and creating lethal sci-fi gadgets.
Meant for adults, there’s a whole lot of crass humor that’s bound to keep you in stitches. Throwing one joke after the other, this surreal show is also absolutely hilarious and combined with the art that looks a lot like it was created during a psychedelic experience. Definitely can be considered the next level for Adventure Time!

Clarence
Next up we have Clarence, and this show is your good old, regular slice of life show that will remind you of your own carefree childhood! The series follows the story of Clarence, a free-spirited boy who’s always looking for the best in everything, and this happy-go-lucky attitude doesn’t waver at all, be it through fights, crushes, the mundane school life of a child.
We’re taken along as he uses his mind to look at everything in the brightest way possible, accompanied by his best friends, scrappy Sumo and cautious Jeff, patient mom Mary, and her laid-back boyfriend, Chad.
The show really takes you back to a time when you had no worries on your shoulders, and for 3 seasons, you can relive that carefree past through Clarence’s eyes!
Summer Camp Island
Nearing the end of our list, we have Summer Camp Island, an extremely adorable, albeit funky show that came out with it’s first episode fairly recently; in 2018. The show follows the adventures of two best friends who get dropped off at summer camp but then quickly realise that it’s not your regular summer camp! Run by witches,
unicorns, and a huge number of other mythical, fantastical creatures, the camp is the strangest place the friends have ever been, and we follow them as they try to navigate through the magical camp, determined to make the best out of their time there!
Definitely a softer show than Adventure Time, but right up there with its absurdity, Summer Camp Island will be a smooth watch that will fill your heart!
Regular Show
Next on our list is the second show after Rick and Morty that isn’t the most kid-friendly, but hilarious nonetheless. The show follows the duo made up of Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a raccoon, who work as groundskeepers in a local park,
and are always looking for ways to slack off. But, unfortunately for them, every time they slack off, they’re faced by an extremely surreal misadventure that they have to escape!
The show tackles several issues, such as racial and cultural stereotyping, which is interesting to see considering a lot of the characters are animals, and has a whole lot of crude humor involving coarse language and sexual innuendos;
definitely fun to see in animation. The show’s also won several awards, and you can be assured that is it excellent in every way.
