They are known by their many names: Autobots, Decepticons, Cybertronians, Robots in Disguise, etc. We know them by one name – Transformers. These transforming robots quite literally transformed the childhoods of many children of the 80s, 90s and now have the same effect on the children of today and tomorrow.
Optimus Prime taught children the virtues of bravery, truth and to stand against the forces of evil. While Megatron showed us the lengths of cruelty that people can go to in order for survival. Here is a list some of the some of the best Transformers toys of all time, available online.

If you are looking for mini transformers toys however this one is not for you. It is a massive toy that transforms into a cute looking Cybertronian car. (Best for children under 11 years)
Pros:

- Generations line-up
Cons
- Looks very plasticy and cheap.
- Too expensive for the package at offer.
3. Transformers Dark Of The Moon Mechtech Leader Class Ironhide
Another Autobot, Ironhide is known for this rough and tough demeanor. Another one of the best transformers toys of all time. Afterall, of all the vehicles he could’ve chosen to transform into, he chose a tough GMC 4X4 off roader.
A part of the Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys lineup, this 12 inch figurine is battery powered. It both lights up and makes sounds – which helps bring it to life. With Ironhide by your side, the Decepticons don’t stand a chance.
Pros:
- Battery powered (batteries included)
- Cool looking and well built
Cons
- Could have come with more accessories for the price
4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon – MechTech Deluxe – Cyberfire Bumblebee
A 12-inch figure of Bumblebee from the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. This one transforms into a fantastic looking muscle car. Kids will instant gravitate towards this toy for its awesome looks.
From a big 12 inch toy it converts into a mini transformer toys car in a matter of seconds with its simple but intuitive transformation process.
Pros:
- Cool looks and transformation.
- Detailed design.
Cons
- Cheap build quality.
- High price tag
5. Transformers: The Last Knight — Knight Armor Turbo Changer Grimlock
Grimlock is one of the (if not the) coolest transformers of all time. A dinosaur that turns into a robot? It took everyone by surprise when it was first created. In every incarnation (be it Beast Wars or Generations), Grimlock has been rated amongst the top best transformer toys of all time, period.
A part of the mini transformers toys lineup for Transformers: The Last Knight film this toy is very detailed and cool looking. It converts into a dinosaur in a 3 step process, so simple that even your 5-year-old can do it without supervision.
Pros:
- Converts into a dinosaur.
- Very detailed design.
- 3 step conversion process
Cons
- No accessories with a toy.
6. Transformers: The Last Knight Premier Edition Deluxe Barricade
From the house of the Transformers, Hasbro – comes this mini transformers figurine of Barricade the Decepticon. A close attention to detail in this faithful recreation of the titular robot in disguise from the movie tie-in Transformers: The Last Knight. It converts into a power and sleek looking police cruiser.
Standing at 10 inches tall in robot mode, Barricade is a worthy ally to the Decepticons and to your child’s toy collection. This is one of the cheap transformers toys you can get for your child, at just under $40. Best for children above the ages of 8 (as Hasbro suggests).
Pros:
- Detailed design.
- Simple 11 step transformation.
- Accessories that come with the toy.
- Made by Hasbro.
- Cheap in pricing.
Cons
- Slightly more plastic than expected
7. KHK Tech SmarttToy Action Figures Robot Toys – Bumblebee
One of the better Bumblebee toys in terms of quality and design, this 10-inch figuring is transformed into the Transformers films series incarnation of a Camaro.
The extra added accessory of a Cybertronian blaster can be mounted onto to the top of the car itself. A good design variation for the children who are fans of the film series.
Pros:
- Detailed recreation of movie Bumblebee.
- ABS alloy material used in construction.
- Blaster mounts on the car.
Cons
- Some pieces come with construction issues
8. Jada 1:32 Metals Transformers Bumblebee 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Diecast Vehicle
For the car collector out there, here is a faithful recreation of the Bumblebee Chevrolet Camaro from the Transformers film franchise. This toy, constructed with diecast and other plastic materials will slot right into your small hot wheels collection, like a true robot in disguise.
Pros:
- Built materials.
- Small 1/32 scale.
Cons
- Doesn’t transform
9. Transformers Rescue Bots: Converting Bumblebee Toy (Ages 3-7)
An Amazon.com exclusive, this toy brings a different and unique design to the age-old transformers design formula. It shows off its translucent (see-through) yellow and blue panels which transform into a rounder and stalkier car than we’re used to but that is not a bad thing. If collecting unique transformers toys is your thing, this will be right up your alley. (Plus at $15 price-tag this will be one of the cheap transformers toys with a decent build quality)
Pros:
- Unique design.
- Made by Hasbro.
- Rescue bots toys line-up.
Cons
- Too plasticky.
- Joints look and feel weak.
- Rough and jagged edges.
10. Remote Control Bumblebee Camaro Transformer Robot
This one finds a middle ground for all the Transformers and battery operated remote controlled cars fans (weird niche). It is a single step transformation toy and is controlled by a remote in its car form, to be driven like any other remote controlled car. It comes with a tiny RC remote and a lot of other accessories.
Your child will enjoy this if they’re a fan of controlled cars but the design isn’t faithful to any known series or even good. One of the more decent remote control transformers toys out there, not such a good Transformers toy although.
Pros:
- Remote controlled.
- The accessories that come with the package.
- Talks and makes sounds.
Cons
- Ugly design.
- Bad build quality.
- Transformation is not impressive.
11. Transformers Robots in Disguise Warrior Class Bumblebee Figure
Another Bumblebee toy in the list (I wasn’t kidding when I said it was one of the most popular toys out there). This one from the Robots in Disguise Warrior Class line-up of toys. Join the battle with warrior Bumblebee as he fights on the side of the noble Autobots to save Cybertron.
This toy is not very detailed or well designed however the look of Bumblebee wielding a blue steel sword is enough to make you shed cash. Will you be prepared for battle when Optimus Prime calls for aid? In that case Rollout. Only for children above the ages of 8.
Pros:
- Unique design.
- Simple seven step conversion process.
- Looks cool.
- Mini transformers toy.
Cons
- Cheap build quality.
- Lacks a detailed design.
12. Transformers Age of Extinction Bumblebee
If you are a hardcore Bumblebee fan, this one is for you. There is no another reason to buy this heap of garbage plastic with exception to that. If you have to have it, your choice. Its ugly, misleading and lacks any redeemable quality. For people out there looking for the best Transformers toys of all time, this one’s definitely not for you. (For children of ages 3-7).
Pros:
- Unique design.
- Simple seven step conversion process.
- Looks cool.
- Mini transformers toy.
Cons
- Cheap build quality.
- Lacks a detailed design.
13. QVM Toy Transforming Car to Robot
This one is less of a toy and more of a gimmick, a Bumblebee toy that transforms on it own with the press of a button. It’s a good toy for children between the ages of 5 years who will find it playful and distracting as it mores sounds, moves around (as both car and robot).
It loses its charm or even collectors value post that age group. The thing about remote control transformer toys is that, very less often, they abide by the codes and design principles of being a Transformer (or any other merchandise) toys.
Pros:
- Remote controlled.
- USB rechargeable batteries.
- 20-30 mins of playtime with the full charge.
Cons
- Bad design, build quality and everything.
- Your child is better without one.
14. Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Rescan Quick Shadow Action Figure
Sometimes, some toys hit just the perfect balance between nostalgia and resourcefulness (design, build quality, etc.) and down the line, those toys become a legendary part of history. This is not it. But is it quite cheap? Playskool has never had a legendary toy pedigree anyways.
Pros:
- Cheap priced.
Cons
- Bad design and build quality.
- Transformation is not cool.
15. Playskool B1013 Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Blurr Figure
Not much can be said about a figure whose amazon description reads “Figure looks like Blurr character”. The company themselves aren’t sure what they were going for.
The car that Blur transforms into looks cool at least. The toy itself looks like an overweight transformer, bit ironic then since he transforms into a sports car of all things. Best for children under the ages of 7 years. It is not even good enough to fit into the cheap transformers toys category. Should’ve named it Blubb instead of Blurr.
Pros:
- Cheap price-tag.
Cons
- Bad design and build quality.
- Transformation is not cool.
16. Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Rescan Medix Action Figure
Another one of the mini transformers toys by Playskool. The only advantage that these toys have over the others is that they are cheap. They are substantially cheaper than other toy company toys (like Hasbro or Mattel).
With the cheap price-tag, they bring along a bevy of issues – quality control issues, design, taking liberties with the original designs of the toy, etc.
These are best for children under the ages of 5 years old. They break them, no big deal. If your kid is older and is aware of what a Transformer is. They will hate you for the rest of their lives for buying this as a present. This toy has zero resemblance to the original character.
Pros:
- Cheap price-tag.
Cons
- Bad everything
17. Transformers Rescue Bots Playskool Heroes Hoist the Tow-Bot Figure
Small footprint, easy to manipulate, cheap price-tag – There’s nothing more to say about this Playskool Transformers toy. One of the cheap transformers toys, its point is simple – if your kids break this, you can buy another on in a heartbeat.
Pros:
- Cheap price range.
Cons
- ad design.
- Bad build quality.
- Converts into a tow truck, which is lame.
18. XHAIZ Boys Transformers Toys, Rescue Bots Toys
Anyone who has ever seen a Transformers film, TV series or has owned a toy will know these three things about Bumblebee – A. He has an iconic yellow paint-job; B.
He speaks through a radio and C. He looks nothing like this abomination of a toy. No jokes, this will ruin your kids childhood by giving them wrong ideas of what is what. It transforms into a watch. Really, it does. Not making this up.
Pros:
- Cheap price-tag.
- Not much else actually.
Cons
- Everything about this toys existence.
19. Transformers: Robots in Disguise Power Surge Optimus Prime and Aerobolt
A breath of fresh air after all that. A toy of the most iconic Transformer of all time – Optimus Prime. The OG leader of the Autobots this toy from the Robots in Disguise line-up does him justice. It is a large scale toy that transforms into a cool looking freighter attracted to a cab.
The design aesthetics are all there. This is the toy to buy for your children, granted that they are above 8 years of age. Made by the house of Transformers, Hasbro – this is a cool toy that used both opaque and see-through plastic panels to give Optimus Prime a unique and alien appearance.
Build quality is top notch. Optimus has always been amongst the best transformer toys of all time, some would argue that it is. This is also one of the (surprisingly) cheap transformers toys that Hasbro makes. Buy it!
Pros:
- Great design.
- Great build quality.
- Good accessories collection with toy.
- Unique aesthetics.
- Battery operated.
- Big toy.
Cons
- It is extremely plasticky looking, might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
20. Transformers Generations: Titans Return – Titan Class Fortress Maximus
Transformers Generations is one of my favorite toy lines of all times (besides the OG designs). They are (in my humble opinion) the definitive and the best transformer toys of all time. I’m just a sucker for classic looking Transformers designs. This one is a sight for sore eyes.
A large scale battle station cum transformer Fortress Maximus, a gargantuan that comes with its own mini transformers toys (Titan Master and Emissary) to place onto it.
Standing 2 feet tall this is no normie Transformer toy. It is battery operated – makes sounds, lights flashes and comes in three transformers modes (Autobot, city mode and battle station). It is however, for the slightly older 7-11 year olds due to its sheer size and hefty price-tag.
Remember that one kid who everyone wanted to be in primary school, that kid could be your kid, if he had this toy.
Pros:
- Great design and build quality.
- 3 transformation modes – Autobot, city and battlestation.
- All the accessories (mini-figures and other accessories).
- Battery operated – Lights & sounds.
- Detailed design.
- One of the best on the list.
Cons
- Hefty price-tag.
- Too big for smaller kids (under 8 years).
21. Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Victorion Collection Pack
This one is a cool design and idea for a Transformers robot but its not catering to the children. In a fan voting competition it was chosen as the best transformer of all time as an option to be built from scratch. It is a fanmade Transformer. The concept is simple, 6 smaller transformers combine to make one big one. Its neat, well built and detailed.
Pros:
- Great design and build quality.
- From Hasbro.
- Details in the design.
- 6 small figures make one big figure.
- 5 Accessories that come in box.
- Complex design.
Cons
- Heavy on the pockets.
- Not for your kids.
22. Transformers: Dark of the Moon – Leader Class Action Figure, Bumblebee
Getting straight to the point, this is the second most detailed and well built Bumblebee figure on this list. It is 10 inches in height. The design is detailed, colourful and the joints are strong and well built. Overall, amongst the best on the list.
Pros:
- Well designed and built.
- Very detailed replica of the film character from the film.
- Battery operated – lights and sounds.
- Accessories are plenty.
Cons
- Price-tag is not cheap.
- Accessories are sold separately.
- Collectors item only.
23. Transformers Playskool Heroes Rescue Bots Energize Heatwave the Fire-Bot Action Figure
A cute yet well built rendition of the Transformers line of toys for children of ages 3-7. This is a good package for the money. The transformations aren’t too complicated but are interesting to see.
Built quality can handle some rough treatment. Design is child friendly. Your kids will love this (if they belong to the age bracket – otherwise, they’ll hate it.). A decent addition to the mini transformers toys on this list – standing at only 6 inches tall.
Pros:
- Kid-friendly design.
- Well built.
- Mini figure.
- Well priced.
Cons
- Design won’t be pleasing anyone but 3-7 years olds.
- Not a detailed design.
24. Transformers Generations Combiner Wars
Like I mentioned earlier, I’m a sucker for the more classic designs – this one is a dream for the classic lovers. The statuette of Megatron from G1 Transformers is a beaut. It converts from a scummy Decepticons to an awesome tank which is loaded with machine guns and rockets.
This 13 inch action figure transforms from robot to vehicle in 12 simple steps. The design is well done and detailed. A prized possession in the display of any avid collector, not so much for children due to its sky-high price-tag.
Pros:
- Generation 1 Transformers.
- Well built.
- Detailed design.
- Cool transformation.
- High quality.
- God quality accessories.
Cons
- Price tag is slightly high.
25. Transformers: Generations – Leader Powermaster Optimus Prime Action Figure
Optimus Prime is the mythical leader of the legendary Autobots, this 13 inch statuette honors his image. This action figure is a well built, classical, colourful and high quality rendition of the G1 Optimus Prime from the original TV series and movie series.
The transformation converts this gargantuan into a 10-wheeler freighter with guns and cannons, WHICH. IS. AWESOME. Must buy for collectors, too expensive for children. Unless you’re a rich kid. You’d want Optimus Prime by your side when trouble comes knocking on your door.
Pros:
- Generation 1 Transformer.
- Classic well built designs.
- Cool transformation.
Cons
- Expensive pricing model.
26. Transformers Hero Mashers Bumblebee Figure
Ok, let me save you some time. This is an extremely cheap looking and shabbily built toy. Instead of looking like Bumblebee it looks more like a diarrhea-tic megaman.
But it is extremely cheap in price. Ideal for you, if your kid breaks everything. Another bonus feature is that all limbs and even the head is replaceable with other compatible pieces which are for buying seperately.
Pros:
- Quite cheap.
- Replaceable parts.
Cons
- Cheap built.
- What is thissss??!!!
27. Transformers Takara Tomy Masterpiece Movie MPM-03 Bumblebee
This is the one. The most well built. Detailed, high quality and the chosen one – the ultimate Bumblebee toy on this list. It is designed with detail and precision that it is practically a scaled replica of the Transformers film. Seriously, the looks and the tactile feel of this toy is fine quality. Nothing else in this list feels like it.
Pros:
- Best built.
- Best designed – extremely detailed.
- Official movie replica.
- Sturdy moving parts.
- Awesome transformation.
Cons
- Too expensive.
28. Transformers Allspark Tech Bumblebee
This bumblebee is similar to the last one I just talked about. Minus the details. And the design. And the details. And about everything else. That’s not to say it is a bad toy (it is priced at almost 1/10 the price of the earlier one). It doesn’t quite match up.
That’s a good thing in all honesty, you can buy it for a toddler without worrying about him going ballistic on it. It can take some abuse without showing even a crack. Plus, it comes pretty close (in fact might be the best cheap priced Bumblebee on this list) to the actual films design. It’s a must buy if you have a child above the age of 5.
Pros:
- Good Design.
- Cheap pricing.
- Cool transformations.
- Bright colours.
Cons
- Cheap build.
- Lacks details.
- No accessories with the toy.
29. KRE-O Transformers Optimus Prime Construction Set
Kids love toy that they can put together, break apart and put back together. It helps them in developing their problem solving skills. This is a toy perfect for children under the age of 12 years old.
A lego styled Optimus Prime which is part of a toy set which you can build from scratch and break apart without caring about damaging the toy. Its aesthetic inspiration comes from the old and boxy designs of the G1 Transformers from the 80s. A well designed and sturdy toy for your child.
Pros:
- Well built.
- Decent design.
- Generation 1 design.
- Tough to break.
- Building blocks design.
Cons
- Not for older kids.
- Kind of expensive for a kids toy.
30. KRE-O Transformers Prowl Construction Set
Same as earlier this is well built and sturdy toy for kids.
It engages them and helps them grow their problem solving skills. In terms of design this one stands out even more than the KRE-O Optimus Prime with its red and white aesthetics. It transforms into a futuristic looking police car. Must buy for all kids under the ages of 12.
Pros:
- Well designed.
- Cool and intuitive transformations.
Cons
- Like earlier, too expensive for a kids toy.
31. Transformers Generations: Autobot Cliffjumper Action Figure
A tiny 11 inch statuette, Cliffjumper is a must have for all collectionists due to its unique and rounded design, it stands out with its bright red colour. An Autobot which is well built, detailed and cool looking toy overall.
Part of the Generations line-up from Hasbro, Cliffjumper is a veteran weapons and hand-to-hand combat expert. On the push of a button, blades pop out of his gauntlets which he uses in his fight against the ill-intent and malicious Decepticons. Even Optimus Prime can put his faith into this one.
Pros:
- Well built.
- Unique design.
- Transforms into an awesome looking Cybertronian
- Detailed design.
- Bright colours will help it stand out.
Cons
- Joints are weak.
- Plastic used in construction is questionable.
32. KRE-O Transformers Bumblebee Construction Set
Another toy from the KRE-O line-up, this time it’s Bumblebee.
Same as earlier it is a good choice to make for your 12 year old despite the slightly ludacris price-tag.
Pros:
- Well designed.
- (bright yellow colour will make it a stand out)
- Cool and intuitive transformations.
Cons
- Like earlier, too expensive for a kids toy.
33. KRE-O Transformers Starscream Construction Set
KRE-O Transformers toys now presents a scummy Decepticon, right hand man to the infamous Megatron. He known for his lies, back stabbing and the titular deception. He has managed to deceive even the most nefarious Decepticon of all time, his boss, Megatron.
A must have for his unique sharp and angular design that transforms into a the well renowned jet plane. This one comes with two extra toy pieces: A pilot and a tiny Starscream model to place in the cockpit. A worthy foil to add to your Transformers collection.
Pros:
- Well designed. (sharp and angular design)
- (bright yellow colour will make it a stand out)
- Two extra toy pieces.
- Cool and intuitive transformations.
Cons
- Like earlier, too expensive for a kids toy.
34. Transformers: The Last Knight — Knight Armor Optimus Prime
Ending the list with the leader of all Autobots the one and only, Optimus Prime.
A part of the Transformers: The Last Knight lineup of toys, this one is a unique take on the well-known Optimus design in a knight armor. The design will make head turn. The price isn’t too high either. A must buy for all kids who love the legendary Autobot.
Pros:
- Cheap price.
- Detailed design.
- Unique style.
- Cool transforming parts.
Cons
- Poor build quality.
- The vehicle transformation lacks details.
- Joints are weak.
These were some of the best toys available online for collectors of toys and for children who are fans of the Robots in Disguise. Some of them might fit your preferences, some may not but they will remain in the hearts of thousands of children who are now parents. Adios! Or as Optimus Prime would say “Autobots, Roll out!”.
